We often hear various scams being done with naive users digitally, its quite necessary to be aware of scams happening in 2025 and protect yourself from getting tricked. Don’t click on random clicks

  • You must have received some mails or messages claiming to have won you prize money or claiming to be from your bank and asking you to update details from the link given in mail or message.
  • You must always avoid clicking such random links as they can take you to some untrusted and malicious websites and causing you to compromise your privacy and in some cases may loose you your hard earned money from your bank account.
  • Its always advisable to don’t ever fall prey to scammers by visiting unsafe websites, untrusted apps, random links and even public wifi in order to keep yourself protected from online phising scams.

Always use trusted apps

  • Always install apps in your gadgets that’s from trusted soucrces as you may find similar sketchy apps that cailm to be the same app and offers you faster and better service. You should always stick to Google’s Play store or Apple’s App store to install apps.
  • Check app reviews, ratings and even downloads to get an idea whether the app is worth installing or not. Always look for the developers name, often written below the app name.
  • Fraudsetrs create fake apps of the popular apps especially Fintech apps that just look like real banking or payment apps to set a trap for stealing money or your private data.

Enable Two-Factor Authentication

  • To add another layer of security you must enable a Two-Factor authentication which basically asks for OTP or fingerprint scan before any payment or login to make sure an authorised person gets the access of login. So, if by any chance someone guesses your password, wont be able to proceed further without two factor authentication.
  • Speaking of password, you must always choose difficult password that contains alpha-numerical characters so that no one can guess your password. Also never set up your password similar to your birthdates,Anniversary dates etc.
  • Don’t use the same passwords across various apps or websites. If your app allows you to set biometrics locks like Fingerprint scanner or Face ID, then opt for biometrics instead of setting up passwords.

Carefully share things online

  • Don’t overshare your personal informations like Aadhaar number, PAN number, mobile number, email, bank accounts etc. It is often seen that users keep sharing their emails & contact number online in order to get discounts and better deals but giving away your contact details can land you in trouble.
  • Scammers can apply for loan using your Aadhar and Pan card. SInce they have your contact details – mobile number & email, they can further contact you pretending to be from bank and can extract further personal information which may trun into blackmailing & harassment.
  • Any app you install in your phone, before clicking on allow, must check if its asking for contacts,photos,location etc. Now some app may need some permissions genuinely. For example to be able to use Google Map you may need to provide your location access but doesn’t certainly need your gallery or photo access.

Check your balance daily

  • Get into this habit of checking your balance daily as checking bank statement & UPI transaction history consistently will make you aware whether your financials working normally or not. If you find something suspicious, investigate immediately.
  • Turn on all instant alerts whether its SMS alerts or Email alerts so that you get notified instantly as soon as any movement happens in your account. By doing this you’ll know right away If someone else try to make any transaction on behalf of you and can snub immediately.
  • Review your monthly statements of your credit card bills, UPI, bank statement etc. Make it a part of your life where you know whatever happening to your finance even if your investment giving you returns, you must aware of everything that’s happening to your hard earned money.
